Automatic rainwater tank control

Take advantage of weather forecast data to optimize rainwater tank management. With LabkoNet cloud service, you can ensure sufficient tank capacity for upcoming rainfall, reduce flood risks, and improve the performance of your stormwater management system.

How automatic rainwater tank control works

LabkoNet utilizes weather forecasts for the installation site and proactively optimizes the operation of a storage or retention tank.

  1. LabkoNet automatically retrieves the weather forecast for the site.
  2. Based on the forecast, the system calculates an optimal emptying plan to ensure sufficient storage capacity for incoming rainwater.
  3. LabkoNet controls tank emptying through the Labcom 442 communication unit. The actuator can be, for example, a pump or a valve.
  4. Labcom 442 measures the tank level in real time and transmits the data to LabkoNet.
  5. Real-time weather data is obtained from the Meteosource weather service, although the weather service can be changed if required.
  6. The solution is managed through the LabkoNet service, enabling remote monitoring, reporting, alarm notifications (SMS/email), control parameter management, and manual control of tank emptying.
Benefits of automatic rainwater tank control:
  • Use collected rainwater for applications such as irrigation
  • Maximize the available capacity of storage or retention tanks before rainfall events
  • Improve stormwater and rainwater management through automatic control
  • Enable continuous level monitoring and reporting
  • Get remote monitoring, weather forecast-based control, and field automation in one package
  • Support sustainable water management and circular economy goals
