Located on the banks of the Kokemäki River in Pori, the 100-hectare Copper Industry Park employs approximately 1,400 people. The area is home to several international companies and their partners, all contributing expertise to copper processing and manufacturing. Oils used in production processes are carefully recycled, and oil separators serve as an important environmental safeguard. The filling levels of these separators are monitored around the clock, every day of the year, using Labkotec solutions.

Reliable Measurement Data Year After Year
Luvata and KP-ServicePartner have used the LabkoNet service since 1999, from its very first version through to the current Version 4.5. Originally, data transmission was carried out through fixed telephone lines, but the communication equipment was upgraded to GSM technology in 2011. The service is continuously developed, and users receive new versions automatically.
“Labkotec listens to our needs when developing both the service and the hardware. A good example is the cable extension developed for oil separator alarms, which eliminated failures caused by moisture in junction boxes,” says Markku Aho, Installation Team Leader at KP-ServicePartner Oy.
Today, approximately 80 monitored locations are connected to the LabkoNet service across the Copper Industry Park. Alarm notifications are distributed to dozens of users, and virtually all companies operating in the area are connected to the system. LabkoNet Waste provides real-time measurement data, reports, and alarm notifications on both smartphones and computers, regardless of location. In addition to continuous monitoring, the oil separators are inspected according to maintenance plans, and the monitoring system is tested during each service visit.
“Labkotec supplies the cloud service and separator alarms, trains users to operate the system, and provides technical support, while we handle installations. Many of the alarm systems installed before the turn of the millennium are still in operation today, which speaks volumes about their durability,” Aho notes.
